Synopsis

The Sea Gull is a Russian play penned by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, a Russian Physician and remembered as one of the greatest short story writer of not only Russian literature, but in the entire literary world. The Sea Gull is remarkable in many aspects, it has broken the conventional style of the then dramatization and ignited the comeback of Chekhov writing career after 7 years.

Arkadina, a celebrated actress along with his lover Trigorin, a writer visits her brother Sorin’s estate for a brief vacation, while he is in failing health. All of them gather to watch an unconventional play scripted by Arkadina’s son Konstantin. The drama has been criticized by everyone including Arkadina except physician Dorn, which humiliates Konstantin. However Konstantin’s play sets the stage for the preceding events which revolves around the challenges and rewards in the career of writers and actors through the characters in the Play within a play.
