Synopsis

A Singular Life is novel based on the temperance movement which criticizes excessive alcohol consumption.  Written by the American feminist Elizabeth Stuart Phelps Ward who is known for many social changes including movement against experimentation of animals. It is believed that the theme for the novel "A Singular Life" might have been originated from Gloucester, Massachusetts who was a young minister who fought for abolition of alcoholic beverages through government laws.  Phelps's more than 40 fiction works include Ellen's Idol, What to Wear, The Silent Partner, Songs of the Silent World, Jack the Fisherman, and The struggle for Immortality.
