Synopsis

The Pickwick Papers is the debut novel of Charles Dickens, an English writer and social critic who is remembered as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. Some of his huge array of novels and short stories include A Tale of Two Cities, A Christmas Carol, Oliver Twist, David Copperfield and Great Expectations to name a few. 

This novel narrates comical yet adventurous incidents takes place, while a group of people travels to remote places around London as a part of their research into the quaint and curious phenomena of life. Samuel Pickwick, founder of Pickwick Club and a wealthy old gentleman along with their fellow club members Mr. Nathaniel Winkle, Mr. Augustus Snodgrass, and Mr. Tracy Tupman start traveling by coach. Literary value of this novel is ignited by Dicken’s description of the then Coaching inns of England with great accuracy and illustration and characterization of the character’s drawn comically and sometimes exaggerated.
