Synopsis

The Island of Doctor Moreau is a science fiction novel written by H. G. Wells, an English writer and remembered as “The Father of Science Fiction” with his notable works such as The Invisible Man, The War of the Worlds, The Time Machine and A Modern Utopia.

This novel is based on the theme of degeneration and animal vivisection. Edward Prendick, the protagonist is saved by Montgomery, while shipwrecked. The ship which saved him carries animals and unloads them at an Island, Prendick was also asked to get down from the ship along with Montgomery. Montgomery reveals to him about the Island which is owned by Dr. Moreau whom he knows as the controversial physiologist, who was defamed for performing painful experiments on animals.

Prendick enters the laboratory and hears a crying animal which was under research by Dr. Moreau. Unable to digest the voice of the animal, he jumped out of the lab and runs into forest. In the forest he could witness many humans, but they behaved like animals. He was chased by a figure of monstrous hybrid of animal and man. Somehow he stabs him and returns to the lab. Dr. Moreau persuade him that, his creatures were animal turned to man and not vice versa. He also reveals that his research is keep failing that after days his creations start to reflect back their original animal behaviors. 

In the preceding incidents Dr. Moreau and Montgomery killed by the creatures. Prendick left alone in the island hand he could witness every man he meets in the island changes to animal. This goes in his subconscious mind. One day he is saved from the Island and reaches his home. Nobody believes after he reveals about the Island. He is no longer comfortable in watching humans as his mind to goes through a state of seeing them reverting to animal.
