Synopsis

History of Tom Jones, a Foundling is a Picaresque novel written by Henry Fielding, an English novelist remembered for his humor writings and satirical works. This novel narrates the story of an illegitimate child Tom Jones who was found in the premises of a kind and wealthy landowner Squire Allworthy. Tom grows as an honest boy and fall in love with Sophia Western, daughter of his neighbor. His illegitimate past becomes a hurdle for his love and the society still looks him as a bastard. This work was criticized for its low quality on account of promiscuity and prostitution contents throughout the plot.
