Synopsis

The Gift of the Magi is a short story written by William Sydney Porter under his pen name O. Henry, an American author remembered for his twist ending stories with his literary contributions such as The Ransom of Red Chief, The Cop and the Anthem, A Retrieved Reformation, and The Duplicity of Hargraves.

The Gift of the Magi narrates the priceless love of a couples Mr. James Dillingham Young Jim and Della. Though cursed by poor wealth, Della is a beautiful woman with long hair following upto her knees. James wears a shiny gold watch inherited from his father. On a Christmas eve, the couple are left with just under $2 in their hand and unable to celebrate the Christmas. Both of them leave their home in an urge to buy a gift for each other.

They came back with a gift in their hand for their lovable spouse. Alas, the gifts cannot used by them now, as the traded their only possessions. This story narrates how priceless their love is more than their priceless things which they had.
