Synopsis

Anne of the Island is a novel written by Lucy Maud Montgomery, a Canadian novelist remembered for creation of the fictitious character Anne, an Orphaned girl and the central character of Anne of Green Gables series books that brought worldwide followers to the author.

This novel is sequel to Anne of Green Gables and opens up with Anne quits her teaching job at Avonlea for higher studies. During her days at college, she witnesses her many friends are fall in love and engages. Anne also receives proposals from her friends and encounters many students, however rejects all the proposals and continues her studies.

After completing her college, she returns to Green cables and find herself alone as her friends are married and couple of them have given birth to child. She takes up a job as a principal at a school and makes herself engaged. Meanwhile she receives the news that her friend Gilbert is seriously ill. She quickly meets him and he is recovered. Finally she realizes her true love with Gilbert and finally engaged.
