Synopsis

Wells' novel Tono-Bungay narrates the story of George Ponderevo and his uncle Edward, who is looking to achieve quick social success with his medical product Tono-Bungay.  George seven years of hard work let him climb in the social ladder at the quickest time, however he is uncomfortable in enjoying his success as he believes the Tono-Bungay, a harmful substance.  Edwards' growth takes U turn and he eventually dies in  phenomonia, when he was trying to escape in an aircraft designed by George.
