Synopsis

The Confessions is an autobiography written by Jean Jacques Rousseau, a Genevan philosopher whose political philosophy has greatly influenced French revolution.
 
The confessions is considered to be the first major work as an autobiography to be ever written, though previously written autobiographies were focused on religious experience rather than a narrative of personal life. In spite of this work is considered as inaccurate, the author has written his life incidents without hiding, even shameful and humiliating incidents he has mentioned. Leo Damrosch, an American author stats, though there were many autobiographies were published preceding Rousseau’s, none of them can be imitated because nobody is like Jean Jacques Rousseau.
