Against her imagination of fantasies, life at Bramble Farm was not a pleasant one, as the miser Mr. Peabody was treating everyone like a slave including his wife. Betty befriends with Bob  Henderson, a poor boy working in the farm. Unable to bear the tortures of Peabody, Betty wish to run away from the farm, however advised by Dr. Guerin to be patient till her uncle returns.
