Synopsis

Letters of Pliny is a collection of oldest surviving records which provide historical value in many ancient Roman empires, specifically the relationship between the imperial office and provincial governors. Gaius Plinius Caecilius Secundus popularly called a Pliny the younger, was the nephew of the Roman naturalist Gaius Plinius Secundus, who was called Pliny the Elder. Both were the witnesses of eruption of Vesuvius, in which the elder was killed in a shipwreck, though sources say he died of natural causes rather than the eruption. Pliny has written hundreds of letters of historical value, including to his contemporaries and philosophers like Tacitus, Artemidorus and Euphrates. Apart from being an author and lawyer, he served as the Magistrate of Ancient Roman Empire.
